New support for Fedora Core 4, RHEL4, and CentOS4 is now available for BERT 77 Lite (free analysis version). You can download these versions from the BERT 77 download page. The versions are for i386 systems (32 bit). We are working on
the 64 bit versions. For those that don't know about BERT 77, it is a software tool that can be used to automatically and efficiently convert sequential Fortran 77 programs for a parallel computing environment. BERT produces new source code for your application that is compatible with the standard message passing model supported by PVM and MPI. The free Lite version does not create source code, but can be used to analyze Fortran 77 source code.

Did you know that there are now four popular "freely available" MPI packages for clusters.
In addition to the old standbys, MPICH and LAM/MPI, there is now MPICH2 and OPEN MPI !
Of course the question becomes what MPI is best? It depends. Most users find that one MPI
works best for different applications on their cluster but don't know which one until they try them all. Include multiple compilers (GNU, Pathscale, Intel, PGI) and now the four MPI have grown to over sixteen possible platforms. This combination can make for quite a bit of testing and headaches unless you are using our Baseline Cluster Suite (BCS). Read more
to see how we make managing MPI's, compilers, and even Sun Grid Engine a simple task.

We are pleased to announce our new Baseline Cluster Suite (BCS). The BCS represents a collection of the best tools and software available for HPC clusters. In addition to offering full support for the BCS, we also use this as a starting point for further integration into your computing environment. If you need additional compilers, libraries, and application integrated into the BCS, Basement Supercomputing is ready and waiting. More news will be posted as it develops.
The release of our new BERT 77 version has been delayed for a month or so. We are hard at work determining if BERT can be used to adapt codes to for multi-core processors. We will be posting new demo versions very soon. |
